Mimesis

Listen. Click. Keep.

Listen to talks, podcasts and your own audio, and keep the sentences you hear: click, memo, export, play.

Not on Google Play yet.

Mimesis is built and in daily use and testing here at version 1.56.18, but it is not on Google Play yet. Free is everything that works inside Mimesis — listening, clicks, memos, broad IPA, review, Play clicks, your own backups. Exports and sending to other apps are Mimesis Pro, coming.

Click, memo, export, play. Left: the NOW card — the sentence being said, its broad IPA with the stressed syllables in color — and the Play clicks bar. Right: the folder Export as playlist writes, which VLC plays anywhere it is copied; the reel shows the text where VLC shows no subtitles over audio.

Mimesis stays simple: shadowing and dictation are no longer in Mimesis. They live in Antiphon, exact to the line of your own audio, and dictation also in Lectio.

What it can do

Your data

No account, no ads, no analytics, and no Mimesis server. Your clicks, notes and voice stay on your phone; nothing of yours leaves it unless you send it — a copy to your own Google Drive or a folder, an export you share, cards for AnkiDroid, your clicks to your own Readwise, subtitles made online with your own AssemblyAI or Groq key, or a sentence handed to another of our apps. The privacy policy names every one.

Mimesis is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. Pronunciations come from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary by Carnegie Mellon University. Mimesis is not offered on Android TV: clicks, memos and transcripts need a touch screen. Questions or a problem:

The rest of the family

Separate apps, each doing one job. None of them needs another — they simply go well together. Mimesis writes the basic IPA; Phonema writes the narrow one.
