Redeem Time on Fire TV
Fire OS has no menu to give an app usage access, so on a Fire TV it takes one command from a computer. Five minutes, once.
The steps
- 1
Turn on ADB debugging on the TV
Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → ADB debugging: on.
No Developer options? On newer Fire OS, open Settings → My Fire TV → About and press the device name entry 7 times; Developer options then appear.
- 2
Find the TV’s IP address
Settings → My Fire TV → About → Network. It looks like
192.168.1.23. - 3
Run two commands on a computer
On a computer on the same network, with Android platform-tools installed:
adb connect <TV-IP>:5555Accept the prompt that appears on the TV, then:
adb shell appops set com.neurophonetics.redeemtime GET_USAGE_STATS allow - 4
Check it worked
Open Redeem Time on the TV: usage access shows Usage access granted ✓.
- 5
Optional: turn ADB debugging off again
Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options → ADB debugging: off. The permission stays.
Without it
Redeem Time on a Fire TV cannot count which apps are used, and it says so on its screen. Nothing is blocked because of it, and nothing else on the TV changes.
